Just wanted to let you know that I was in town last week (my first visit to Floyd!) to photograph Floyd’s own Gunther Hauk of Spikenard Farms for the cover of Out Here magazine. Out Here is published by Tractor Supply Company and Gunther is slated to be featured in the magazine’s Spring 2012 issue. The designer of the magazine and I had a fantastic experience during our short time in Floyd County. As you might expect, we spent several hours at the bee sanctuary at Spikenard Farms, but we also had time for dinner at Oddfellas, breakfast at the Blue Ridge and browse the General Store and Republic of Floyd extensively. In fact, I enjoyed our Potted Possum for dinner at a friend’s house last night. Mmmm… Our stay at Hotel Floyd was super-comfortable and neither of us can wait for our next chance to visit.
